Abstract:
A friction material obtained using a friction material composition that contains fiber, a friction-regulating material, a bonding material, and an unbridged rubber which is a solid at room temperature (25°C), wherein the amount of compressive deformation in the piston compression direction is 2% or less at room temperature (25°C) and 4 MPa, and tan δ in the sliding direction is 0.05 or more at -20 to 50°C. A friction material is thereby provided in which attenuation is high, noise is adequate, responsiveness during braking and braking sensation are not reduced in accompaniment therewith, and an increase in friction and a reduction in fuel economy are not caused by dragging when the friction material makes contact with the brake rotor. Also provided is a method for manufacturing the same.
