Provided is a friction material resin composition containing a thermosetting resin and a metal salt containing a metal that belongs to a group between groups 8 and 11 in the extended periodic table. Provided is a manufacturing method for this friction material resin composition, including a step for mixing the metal salt and the thermosetting resin in a liquid state or a solution of the thermosetting resin. Provided is a friction material containing a cured product of this friction material resin composition.
