Title:
FRICTION MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/109328
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a friction material for a disk brake pad that is able to ensure stability of the friction coefficient under high speeds and high loads, and ensure fade resistance and abrasion resistance, while meeting regulations regarding the content of copper components. The problem is addressed by using a friction material composition containing 2.0 to 6.0 wt% of copper fiber and/or copper alloy fiber, 1.0 to 5.0 wt% of tin particles, 5.0 to 10.0 wt% of a binder, 2.0 to 6.0 wt% of an organic fiber, 0.5 to 7.0 wt% of a metal sulfide lubricant, 4.0 to 5.0 wt% of a carbonaceous lubricant, 7.0 to 22.0 wt% of a titanate, 19.0 to 24.0 wt% of an inorganic friction adjusting material with a Mohs' hardness of 4.5 or higher, 10.0 to 16.0 wt% of an inorganic friction adjusting material with a Mohs' hardness of less than 4.5, 3.0 to 7.0 wt% of an organic friction adjusting material, and 2.0 to 3.0 wt% of a pH adjuster; the total amount of the copper components included in the metal fiber being less than 5.0 wt% of the total amount of the friction material composition.
