Abstract:
Provided is a friction member (such as a disc brake pad), the weight of which is reduced by weight reduction of a back plate and the durability of which after repeated braking is improved. A specific example of the friction member includes an friction material disposed on one surface of a back plate that includes a material having a smaller specific gravity than steel, wherein the thermal conductivity in the thickness direction of the friction material is 0.40 W/m･K or less.
