Abstract:
Provided is a compound that, when included in a lubricating oil, can increase shudder-prevention life and shift characteristics to satisfactory levels while also increasing transmitted torque capacity to a satisfactory level. Said compound is a succinimide compound that can be represented by general formula (1). Also provided are a friction modifier and a lubricating-oil composition containing such a succinimide compound. (1) (In formula (1), R represents a C8-30 hydrocarbyl group and n represents an integer from 1 to 7.)
