Abstract:
The present invention pertains to the second plate (62) of a lock-up clutch (50) provided to a hydraulic power transmission device (10). In this second plate (62), an upstream-side stepped section (66) and a downstream-side stepped section (67) of a friction material (64) formed in a protruding shape are formed such that the width (L1) is larger than the width (L2) in the circumferential direction, so that, when lock-up is disengaged, the amount of change (pressure P1) toward the positive pressure side of hydraulic pressure on the upstream side is larger than the amount of change (pressure P2) toward the negative pressure side of hydraulic pressure on the downstream side. Therefore, by using the second plate (62) of the present invention, it is possible to generate a force for drawing apart the second plate (62) and a first plate (60), which is also a compositional element of the lock-up clutch (50), by causing positive pressure to be applied therebetween, and thus it is possible to reduce drag torque resulting from manufacturing variations.
