Abstract:
Provided are a friction pulley manufacturing method and a friction pulley that can transmit a higher torque than heretofore and is free from molding defects. Provided is a method for manufacturing a friction pulley that transmits power to a subject member while the friction pulley is in pressure contact with the rotating subject member, the method comprising: a first step for disposing an annular rotating wheel to be integrated with an annular rubber ring, in a fixed mold of a predetermined compression molding machine; a second step for disposing a mass of annular rubber material that is to form the rubber ring, in an annular recessed region formed between the fixed mold and a disc-shaped flange part extending on the outer circumferential side with respect to the axis of the rotating wheel; and a third step for compressing the rubber material between the fixed mold and a movable mold of the compression molding machine and integrating the rubber ring with the outer circumferential surface of the flange part of the rotating wheel.
