Abstract:
A friction stir spot welding device for friction-stirring and spot-welding a pair of plates by using the pin part of a seal, the friction stir spot welding device being equipped with an advancement/withdrawal drive unit for advancing the seal toward the plates and withdrawing the same therefrom, a rotation drive unit for rotating the seal, and a control unit for controlling the advancement/withdrawal drive unit and the rotation drive unit. The control unit performs a welding control for inserting the pin part into the plate while the seal is rotated, and causing the pin part to apply pressure to the plate, and thereafter, performs a heat dissipation control for reducing the amount of pressure or rotation speed of the seal in comparison to when performing the welding control, while the seal is rotated and the pin part is sunk into the plate, and then moving the seal away from the plate once the surface temperature of the pin part has fallen below the oxidation start temperature.
