Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a fuel battery that achieves both light weight and excellent durability, and can be used in outer space. [Solution] This fuel battery 1 comprises two or more cells 4 capable of generating power using fuel, a separator 3 that separates the two or more cells 4, and a housing 2 capable of housing the two or more cells 4 and the separator 3. The separator 3 and/or the housing 2 contain beryllium and/or a beryllium alloy. The abovementioned beryllium alloy preferably contains beryllium in an atomic ratio of 90% or greater. The abovementioned beryllium alloy preferably contains elements having a specific gravity that is approximately the same as, or the same or less than the specific gravity of titanium. The fuel battery 1 of the present invention preferably can be used in at least one or more selected from a rover that can explore a planet and/or a satellite, a probe that can explore a planet, a satellite, and/or a small celestial body, a rocket, and a man-made satellite. The separator 3 and/or the housing 2 are preferably objects made via additive manufacturing using a metal 3D printer.
