Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell electrode catalyst exhibiting exceptional oxygen reduction activity without using costly platinum. This fuel cell electrode catalyst is characterized in being provided with an electroconductive carrier (11) and a nitrogen-containing carbon catalyst (12) formed on the surface of the carrier (11), the ratio of hydrogen in relation to carbon in the nitrogen-containing carbon catalyst being greater than 2.8 × 10-6 and less than 1.2 × 10-5. This configuration makes it possible to provide a fuel cell electrode catalyst exhibiting oxygen reduction activity.
