A power supply system for supplying electric power to a load is disclosed. The power supply system comprises first and second power supply wirings to be connected to the load, a fuel cell system having a fuel cell connected between the first and second power supply wirings, a secondary power supply system connected between the first and second power supply wirings parallel to the fuel cell, a switch for making/breaking the connection between the fuel cell and the first power supply wiring, and a control unit for controlling the secondary power supply system and the switch. The control unit is characterized by controlling the secondary power supply system so that the voltage between both ends of the secondary power supply system are raised when the fuel cell is connected to the first power supply wiring.
