Abstract:
Each unit cell (12) of a fuel cell (11) is provided with a membrane electrode assembly (15) that comprises a pair of gas diffusion layers (19, 20). Gas channel forming bodies (31, 41) are laminated on respective outer surfaces of the gas diffusion layers (19, 20) of each unit cell (12), and each unit cell (12) therefore comprises a gas channel (32) for a fuel gas and a gas channel (132) for an oxidant gas. Each of the gas channel forming bodies (31, 41) is provided with headraces (33, 133) respectively positioned between adjacent gas channels (32, 132). Communicating channels (36, 136) for guiding water within the gas channels (32, 132) to the headraces (33, 133) are provided between the gas channels (32, 132) and the headraces (33, 133) respectively adjacent thereto. The communicating channels (36, 136) have higher pressure losses in comparison to the gas channels (32, 132).
