Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell with which it is possible to suppress a reduction in electrical conductivity of a solid electrolyte layer, while maintaining connectivity between the solid electrolyte layer and a fuel electrode. The present invention pertains to a fuel cell in which the solid electrolyte layer has a first region disposed on the fuel electrode, and a second region disposed between the first region and an air electrode, the ratio of ceria material content to the total amount of zirconia material and ceria material in the first region being 0.5% or less, the ratio of tetragonal zirconia to the total amount of cubic zirconia and tetragonal zirconia in the first region being 3.0 at% or more, the atomic weight ratio of nickel in relation to zirconium in the first region being 3.0% or less, the ratio of ceria material to the total amount of zirconia material and ceria material in the second region being 1.0% or more, and the ratio of tetragonal zirconia to the total amount of cubic zirconia and tetragonal zirconia in the second region being 0.1% or less.
