Title:
FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/097052
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine, which can efficiently
feed high-pressure fuel to fuel injection sections of the internal combustion
engine, where different kinds of pumps can be used, and which has excellent maintainability
including service, replacement, and attachment and detachment of the pump.
The fuel injection system has a cassette pump and a common rail. The cassette pump
is detachably attached to the internal combustion engine having a cam and pressurizes
and feeds the fuel under pressure as the cam rotates. The common rail accumulates
the high-pressure fuel fed under pressure from the cassette pump and feeds the
high-pressure fuel to the fuel injection sections. The fuel injection system
is characterized in that the cam is secured to a camshaft, the camshaft is connected
to the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine at a predetermined gear ratio,
and the cassette pump has only a single plunger for pressurizing the fuel by the
rotation of the cam and a single discharge valve for discharging the fuel pressurized
by the plunger.
