Abstract:

A fuel injection valve comprises: a nozzle body having a nozzle hole formed in the front end thereof; a helical channel for applying a swirl component to fuel flowing within the nozzle body toward the nozzle hole; and a pre-injection swirl flow generating means for causing the fuel to flow through the helical channel before the nozzle hole is opened. The pre-injection swirl flow generating means comprises: a needle member which is slidably disposed within the nozzle body and which, at the time of fuel injection, ascends toward the base end of the nozzle body to increase a first gap between the needle member and the inner peripheral surface of the nozzle body; and a valve member which, after the needle member starts to ascend, starts to move toward the base end of the nozzle body to open the nozzle hole. The configuration enables the fuel, which contains fine bubbles, to be injected from the early stage of the injection.
