Abstract:
Fuel pellets for use as a fuel which are characterized by comprising a compression-molded object of palm petioles that are some of palm branches and leaves that have grown around palm fruit bunches, the compression-molded object having been torrefied; and a production method for the fuel pellets which comprises a squeezing step in which palm petioles that have grown around palm fruit bunches are squeezed to obtain sap and a squeeze residue, a crashing step in which the obtained squeeze residue is crashed, a drying step in which the crashed palm petioles obtained in the crashing step are dried to regulate the water content, a torrefaction step in which the dried crashed palm petioles are torrefied, a pulverization step in which the torrefied crashed palm petioles are pulverized, and a pelletizing step in which palm-derived lignin is added to the obtained pulverized palm branches and leaves and the resultant mixture is compression-molded to form pellets.
