Abstract:
In an engine fuel supply unit with a plurality of fuel tanks for storing low boiling point
fuel such as DME, a fuel tank delivering fuel can be switched automatically and
mixing of fuel vapor at the switching is prevented. A solenoid valve (10A) and
the like are arranged in the fuel feed piping (6A, 6B) and fuel return piping (8A,
8B) connected with fuel tanks (4A, 4B) for low boiling point fuel, and a fuel tank
to be used is selected by opening/closing the solenoid valves through a controller (14).
Pipes (12A, 12B) for coupling the fuel feed piping with the fuel tank and pressure
regulation valves (13A, 13B) interposed in the coupling pipes are provided. When
the fuel tank is switched, a pump in the fuel tank is operated for a predetermined period
before the solenoid valve is opened thus pressurizing the fuel. Consequently, low
boiling point fuel is liquefied surely and malfunction due to mixing of vapor can
be prevented in the fuel supply unit.
