Abstract:

A fuel tank formed by integrally forming flanges (7f, 8f) at the peripheral edge parts of bowl-like steel sheet-made upper tank half body (7) and lower tank half body (8), and overlappingly joining these flanges (7f, 8f), liquid-tight, to each other. These both flanges (7f, 8f) are fixedly caulked in a roll shape to form an annular thick wall joined part (12), and a pair of annular reinforcement ribs (7r, 8r) arranged continuously with both sides of the joined part (12) are formed on the upper and lower tank half bodies (7, 8). Thus, a sufficient strength can be imparted to the periphery of the joined part of the flanges without increasing the thickness of the steel sheet.
