Abstract:
It is intended to provide a fullerene derivative comprising a site to which a sugar chain can be specifically attached regardless of the sugar chain type and a fullerene nucleus. It is also intended to provide a novel sugar chain analysis technique with the use of the principle of largely shifting a sugar chain signal alone from a molecular weight region involving a large number of various biological molecules in mass spectroscopy. It is furthermore intended to provide a method of constructing a sugar chain-capturing support with the use of the membrane characteristics of a sugar chain-capturing fullerene derivative to thereby separate, purify, concentrate or analyze a sugar chain or a sugar chain-containing substance at a high efficiency and/or in a state closely similar to the naturally occurring state, and a system and an apparatus to be used therefor. Namely, a novel fullerene derivative comprising a site capable of interacting specifically with a sugar chain and a fullerene nucleus; and a method of separating, concentrating or purifying a sugar chain or a sugar chain-containing substance in a sample with the use of a sugar chain-capturing support containing the fullerene derivative.
