Abstract:
A furnace for heat treatment of metal comprises a heating section (20) provided within a heating chamber (10), the heating section (20) being provided with a heat generating body which uses carbon and generates heat by conducting a high-frequency electric current to a coil having an adjustable pitch. A cooling chamber (80) for cooling the metal which has been heated by the heat generating body is provided below the heating chamber (10) so as to communicate with the heating chamber (10) through a connection section (60). A water-cooled vertically movable shaft (90) capable of entering the heating chamber (10) while supporting the metal to be heated is provided so as to penetrate through the bottom of the cooling chamber (80). A gas introducing pipe (81) for introducing gas into the cooling chamber (80) is provided in the cooling chamber (80), said gas being used to cool the heated metal having been moved into the cooling chamber (80) from the heating chamber (10) while being supported by the water-cooled vertically movable shaft (90). The configuration reduces the running cost of the furnace and achieves an increased cooling speed.
