Abstract:
Provided are: a fuse component that has excellent fast fusing properties and insulating properties after fusing even when the size of the fuse component is reduced; and a fuse element. The fuse element (5) constitutes the conduction path of the fuse component (1) and fuses as a result of self-generated heat when a rating-exceeding current passes therethrough. The length W of the fuse element (5) in a width direction perpendicular to the conduction direction is larger than the total length L in the conduction direction. In addition, the fuse element (5) has high-melting-point metal layers (5b) above and below a low-melting-point metal layer (5a) and a low-melting-point metal layer (5a), and the low-melting-point layers (5a) erode and fuse the high-melting-point layers (5b) when current passes therethrough.
