Abstract:
The objective of the invention is to allow, even after size reduction or profile reduction of a fuse element, the largest amount of flux to be held at a predetermined position, and to allow the operation to be stable by preventing the fusing characteristics of a fusible conductor from varying. This fuse element comprises: an insulating base plate 10; a fusible conductor 13 disposed above the insulating base plate 10, connected to a current path, and interrupting the current path by fusing; a cover member 20 having a side wall 21 and a top surface 22 covering the top of a surface 10a of the insulation base plate 10 whereon the fusible conductor 13 has been placed; and a flux 17 coated over the fusible conductor 13. Provided on the internal side of the top surface 22 from the cover member 20 is a flux-holding wall 24 for holding the flux 17 at a predetermined position above the fusible conductor 13. The minimum distance D between an outer surface 24a of the flux holding wall 24, and an inner wall surface 21a of the side wall 21 from the cover member 20 is 0.08 mm or greater.
