Abstract:

A fusion splice device for fusing and splicing together end surfaces (1a, 3a) of a pair of optical fibers (1, 3), the fusion splice device having: a mirror shaft (21) provided with a mirror (23) movably displaced between a first state in which the image of one end surface (1a) is reflected, and a second state in which the image of the other end surface (3a) is reflected, in the space between the end surfaces (1a, 3a) of the pair of optical fibers (1, 3) while the pair is kept in a state in which the end surfaces (1a, 3a) face each other and are separated from each other; a first television camera (25) for capturing an image of the one end surface (1a) reflected in the first state of the mirror (21); and a second television camera (27) for capturing an image of the other end surface (3a) reflected in the second state.
