Abstract:
The present invention is provided with an imaging unit (12) for irradiating light to a target optical fiber (2) from a side of the target optical fiber (2) and capturing a lateral transmission image, and a distinguishing unit (20) for creating a target luminance distribution in the direction orthogonal to the optical axis of the target optical fiber (2) from the lateral transmission image and comparing the target luminance distribution with reference luminance distribution data registered in advance for a reference optical fiber to distinguish the type of the target optical fiber. The reference luminance distribution is a luminance distribution obtained by capturing a plurality of lateral transmission images using the imaging unit (12) while rotating the reference optical fiber, and averaging the plurality of luminance distributions created from the plurality of lateral transmission images.
