GAME OF CHANCE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/010661
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A gambling game comprises a surface on which at least two groups (10, 14) of multiple, visually distinct areas are defined, and selection means such as a 'roulette' wheel for choosing at random but with different probabilities one of said areas or at least one other possibility, the rules of the game determining the payoff on bets placed on areas of said groups when that area is selected by the selection means.

CLAIMS
1. A game comprising a surface on which at least two groups of multiple, visually distinct areas are defined, and selection means for choosing at random but with different probabilities one of said areas or at least one other possibility, the rules of the game determining the payoff on bets placed on areas of said groups when that area is selected by the selection means.
2. A game as claimed in claim 1, in which the multiple areas in each group are distinguished by colour.
3. A game as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, in which the selection means is a wheel, similar to a roulette wheel, having segments coloured to correspond the colours of the areas in the groups, the number of segments of each colour being different, and at least one other segment of a different colour.
4. A game as claimed in claim 3, in which the segments of each colour are grouped in a single sector.
5. A game as claimed in claim 4, in which there are seven coloured sectors and two other sectors of different colours.
Description:
GAME OF CHANCE This invention concerns a game of chance.

Games such as roulette are well known and are played throughout the world, but are increasingly failing to excite the players or attract fresh players.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a game that can be played in a casino, as well as elsewhere, and which is fresh and exciting.

The present invention is a gambling game comprising a surface on which at least two groups of multiple, visually distinct areas are defined, and selection means for choosing at random but with different probabilities one of said areas or at least one other possibility, the rules of the game determining the payoff on bets placed on areas of said groups when that area is selected by the selection means.

Preferably the multiple areas in each group are distinguished by colour.

The selection means may be a wheel, similar to a roulette wheel, having segments coloured to correspond the colours of the areas in the groups, the number of segments of each colour being different, and at least one other segment of a different colour.

The segments of each colour may be grouped in a single sector.

Preferably there are seven coloured areas and two other sectors of different colours.

An embodiment of the present invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:- Fig. 1 illustrates the markings on the playing surface ; and Fig. 2 shows a wheel used in the game.

Referring now to the drawings, Fig. 1 shows how the playing surface, typically a table, is marked out in three groups 10,12 and 14, each group comprising seven differently coloured areas. In each group one area is the colour of each of the seven colours of the rainbow, namely red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

The first group 10 of coloured areas, 10R, 100,10Y, 10G, 10B, 10I and 10V, is located along two sides of the table and the areas are in rainbow order in an anticlockwise direction.

This group 10 is for making single spin bets.

The second group 12 of coloured areas, 12R, 120,12Y, 12G, 12B, 12I and 12V, is located in the centre of the table and as seen in the drawing the areas are parallel stripes of which the

colours are located in order from the bottom to the top. This group is for making multiple spin bets.

The third group 14 of coloured areas, 14R, 140,14Y, 14G, 14B, 141 and 14V, is located along a third side of the table in order from left to right. This group is for making"double or nothing"bets.

In this embodiment, the payoff for a winning bet is shown on the coloured areas of groups 10 and 12.

In this embodiment selection means for determining winning bets is a"roulette"wheel having 38 segments each being coloured in one of nine colours, namely the seven rainbow colours, black and white. For each colour the number of segments is as follows ;- Black 9 Red 7 Orange 6 Yellow 5 Green 4 Blue 3 Indigo 2 Violet 1 White 1 In this embodiment the segments of each colour are grouped together in sectors.

RULES THE BETS 1. Single Spin Bets. These are played for only one spin of the wheel, a bet on the correct colour on that spin being a winning bet.

2. Multiple Spin Bets. These bets are played multiple times; If black is spun the bet is lost, if the colour of the bet is spun the bet wins, and if any other colour is spun then the bet stands.

3. Double or Nothing (D. O. N.) Bets. The white segment on the wheel is known as the D. O. N., and if white is spun then a) all multiple spin bets stand; b) all single spin bets are, at the player's option, either forfeit or doubled for the next spin; c) D. O. N. bets are agaim forfeit or doubled for the second or third consecutive white spin, and are deemed winning bets on the fourth consecutive white spin.

THE ODDS The payoff odds are as follows for the wheel as described:- Single Spin Bets Multiple Spin Bets Colour Pays Colour Pays Red 4-1 Red 1-1 Orange 5-1 Orange 7-5 Yellow 6-1 Yellow 8-5 Green 8-1 Green 2-1 Blue 11-1 Blue 5-2 Indigo 17-1 Indigo 4-1 Violet 35-1 Violet 8-1
