Abstract:
A game controller which is capable of providing accurate coordinates of a designated position by using a synchronizing signal. Cables (22, 24) are adapted to transmit thereby an image signal from an image output terminal of a game machine body and a control signal to a controller terminal. An HV separator (150) is adapted to separate a vertical synchronizing signal and a horizontal synchronizing signal from the image signal. The light from an impact position is detected by a photosensor (154) provided in a gun (20), and the coordinates of the impact position are determined by a position computing element (162) on the basis of the pulse of the detected light and a synchronizing signal from the HV separator (150). The cable (22) is joined to the cable (24) in a connector (36), and an image signal and a control signal are transmitted by the cable (24). The image output terminal and an image input terminal and a second game controller are connected together by using a connector (30) having male and female terminals (32, 34). The HV separator (150) may be provided either in the gun (20) or in the connector (36).
