Abstract:
Provided is a game system in which the play environment of a network game exhibits expandability with regard to player matching. A game system (1) contains a game terminal (3) on which a network game or a single player game is played, and a server (2). The server (2) retains a set of state information (54) indicating the type of game that is being played by each player (5), creates a candidate list including at least one player that is playing a single player game and transmits said list to game terminals (3B, 3C) when a network game begins to be played on game terminal (3A), and transmits said list to game terminals (3B, 3C). Once a player (5B) that is playing a single player game is selected on game terminal (3A) from the candidate list, the state information (54) of the selected player (5B) is changed to the network game on the server (2). The single player game that is being played is cancelled on game terminal (3B) and the network game with player (5A) begins.
