Abstract:

Disclosed is a gas barrier composition which enables to produce a resin film having high abrasion resistance as well as gas barrier properties under high humidity conditions. Also disclosed are a coating film obtained by heat-treating the gas barrier composition formed into a film-like shape, and a production method of such a coating film. Specifically disclosed is a gas barrier composition containing (A) a water-soluble polymer having a hydroxyl group, (B) a water-soluble polymer having a carboxyl group, (C) a metal alkoxide and/or a hydrolysis-condensation product thereof, and (E) an esterification catalyst. In this gas barrier composition, the weight ratio between the component (A) and the component (B) is from 97/3 to 3/97, while not less than 1 part by weight and not more than 400 parts by weight of the component (C) and not less than 0.01 part by weight and not more than 100 parts by weight of the component (E) are contained per 100 parts by weight of a mixture of the component (A) and the component (B).
