Abstract:
Provided is a gas concentration detection device capable of quickly removing oxygen occluded by a sensor electrode and making activation earlier. A gas concentration detection device is provided with a measurement gas chamber 101, a solid electrolyte body 2, a pump cell 41, a sensor cell 42, a pump cell control unit 61, and a sensor cell detection unit 62. The pump cell control unit 61 applies a removal voltage V2 to the pump cell 41 at a startup time before gas concentration detection is carried out. The application of this removal voltage V2 decomposes the water present in the measurement gas chamber 101 and generates hydrogen as a reduction gas. This hydrogen removes the oxygen occluded by a sensor electrode 22 in the sensor cell 42.
