Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of improving water drainage performance in a gas diffusion electrode formed from a carbon fiber nonwoven fabric. The present invention is a gas diffusion electrode base material that is substantially formed from a carbon fiber nonwoven fabric, wherein the carbon fiber nonwoven fabric has a weight pattern in which high weight regions having relatively high weights and low weight regions having relatively low weights are arranged in a plane, and also has a relief pattern, in which recesses and projections are arranged on at least one surface, said relief pattern being formed independently from the weight pattern.
