Abstract:
This gas diffusion electrode comprises a microporous layer on at least one side of a conductive porous substrate, wherein the thickness of the gas diffusion electrode is 30-180 μm and the thickness of the microporous layer is 10-100 μm, and wherein, when the surface of the microporous layer is observed from 4000 fields of view with a 0.25 mm2 surface area, the number of fields of view of said 4000 fields of view in which the maximum height Rz is greater than or equal to 50 μm is 0 to 5. Thus, a gas diffusion electrode is provided which both suppresses damage to the electrolyte membrane caused by the gas diffusion layer and gas diffusion properties of the gas diffusion layer, and which exhibits excellent performance as a fuel cell.
