Abstract:
Disclosed is a gas-filled proportional counter which comprises a case (1) having a window (2) for allowing X rays to enter therethrough, a core wire (3) disposed in an insulated state in the case, and a detection gas enclosed in the case, the case (1) being equipped inside with an adsorbent (5) comprising at least one substance selected from a group consisting of activated carbon, active alumina, zeolite, silica gel, and calcium oxide. Due to the simple configuration in which the case (1) is equipped inside with the adsorbent (5), impurity gases and the like emitted from the inner surface (1a) of the case (1) are adsorbed. The adsorbent does not affect the detection gas. The energy resolution ability hence is sufficiently inhibited from deteriorating with the lapse of time, without taking a measure such as a conventional measure, and the proportional counter is not costly.
