Abstract:
This gas generator comprises a housing having: an ignition means chamber which has a gas discharge opening and in which an ignition means is contained; and a pressurized-gas chamber which is filled with a pressurized gas. The ignition means chamber and the pressurized-gas chamber are separated within the housing by a partition wall having a connection hole. The partition wall has a cup-like shape which protrudes toward the pressurized-gas chamber and which comprises a bottom surface and a peripheral wall surface, and the partition wall has a flange section on the opening side thereof. Only the peripheral wall surface has the connection hole. The flange section is affixed to the housing. A closing circular plate member is disposed within the partition wall and is installed so as to be movable in the axial direction of the housing with a gap provided between the closing circular plate member and the bottom surface. Before activation, the connection hole is closed by the peripheral surface of the closing circular plate member, and when activated, combustion-generated substances from the ignition means move the closing member to the bottom surface side to open the connection hole, connecting the ignition means chamber and the pressurized-gas chamber.
