Abstract:
A gas meter according to the present invention comprises: a flow rate measurement unit that is provided in a flow path through which flows gas supplied to gas equipment installed in a consumer household and measures the flow rate of the gas flowing through the flow path; a self-diagnosis unit that carries out self-diagnosis; a vibration sensing unit that senses vibration; a calculation unit that calculates, on the basis of vibrations sensed by the vibration sensing unit, a seismic index value indicating the size of an earthquake; a shut off unit that, when the seismic index value is at or above a prescribed value, switches the flow path from an open state, in which gas can flow, to a closed state, in which the flow of gas in the flow path is shut off; and a restoration method determination unit that determines, on the basis of the seismic index value and a diagnostic result by the self-diagnosis unit when the shut off unit has entered the closed state, a method for restoring the shut off unit from the closed state to the open state.
