Abstract:
A gas sensor element (1) is provided with an elongated-plate-shaped element body (2), and a porous protective layer (3) for protecting the surface of the element body. The element body has a gas detection part (4) at an end section at one end surface (21) side in a longitudinal direction Z. The protective layer comprises: an end surface section (32) covering the end surface by being layered thereover; multiple side surface sections (33) covering, by being layered thereover, multiple side surfaces (22) connecting to the end surface; and a corner section (34) connecting two adjacent surfaces from the end surface section and from among the side surface sections. The outer surface (31) of the end surface section and one or more of the side surface sections has a concave shape that smoothly continues to the corner section and has a layer thickness that gets thicker towards the corner section.
