Abstract:
This gas sensor (1) is provided with a sensor element (2), and an element cover (4) having inner side surface holes (51), outer side surface holes (61), inner bottom surface holes (52), and outer bottom surface holes (62). The inner side surface holes are located closer to the basal end side than is a measuring electrode (22), the outer side surface holes are located closer to the distal end side than are the inner side surface holes, the inner bottom surface holes (52) are located closer to the distal end side than is the measuring electrode, and the outer bottom surface holes (62) are located further outward than are the inner bottom surface holes. When fluid analysis is carried out under analytical conditions such that the gas sensor is installed in a flow passage of a gas having a flow rate of 0.02 kg/s, a temperature of 625°C, a density of 0.393229547 kg/m3, a gas viscosity of 3.75223 × 10-5 kg/(m・s), a diffusion coefficient of 0.000234886 m2/s, and a flow velocity of 15.119167 m/s, the gas exchange index, which indicates the product of the total rate of inflow of gas from the outer side surface holes (61) and the total rate of outflow of gas from the inner bottom surface holes (52), is 13-80 mg2/s2.
