Abstract:
A gas separation device (2) is provided with a gas supply unit (26) and a zeolite membrane (12). The gas supply unit (26) can supply a mixed gas under 10 to 200 atm inclusive. The mixed gas contains at least CH4, CO2 and N2. The content of water in the mixed gas is adjusted to 3000 ppm or less. The zeolite membrane (12) allows CO2 and N2 in the mixed gas to pass therethrough to cause the separation of CO2 and N2 from CH4. The zeolite membrane (12) is made from zeolite, wherein the zeolite contains Al. The content ratio of an alkali metal relative to the whole amount of all of constituent elements in the zeolite is 6.0 mol% or less. In the zeolite, the amount of the alkali metal is smaller than the amount of Al. In the gas separation device (2), CO2 and N2 in the mixed gas can be separated simultaneously and with high efficiency by utilizing the zeolite membrane (12), as mentioned above.
