Abstract:
Provided is a gas shielded arc welding method with which arc stability is high and incomplete fusion can be suppressed, regardless of the conditions of a welding material, a welding base material, and the like. Also provided are a structure object production method using the welding method, and a shielding gas to be used in the welding method. The shielding gas to be used in the gas shielded arc welding contains, with respect to the total volume of the shielding gas, between 0.5 % by volume and 2.0 % by volume inclusive of CO2, and between 0.5 % by volume and 3.0 % by volume inclusive of H2, the remainder being Ar and unavoidable impurities. When [CO2] represents the CO2 content in percentage by volume with respect to the total volume of the shielding gas, and [H2] represents the H2 content in percentage by volume with respect to the total volume of the shielding gas, the shielding gas satisfies formula (1) and formula (2). (1): 1.30 ≤ [CO2] + [H2] ≤ 4.40 (2): 0.35 ≤ [H2]/([CO2] + [H2]) ≤ 0.74
