A gasification and combustion device comprises: a tubular combustion chamber (10) which is provided with an entrance section (11) into which fuel is introduced, a combustion section (12) which has a larger diameter than the entrance section, and an exit section (13) which has a smaller diameter than the combustion section and from which a combustion exhaust gas flow which is generated in the combustion chamber is discharged; a burner (1) which is mounted to the entrance section (11) of the tubular combustion chamber; and an exhaust gas recirculation tube (32) which is provided so that the exhaust gas flow which is discharged from the exit section of the tubular combustion chamber (10) is recirculated to an exhaust gas flow intake opening which is provided to the entrance section of the tubular combustion chamber.  The burner (1) has an ejection nozzle (2) for forming a flame swirl in the combustion section of the combustion chamber (10) by ejecting, together with air, a supplied fuel as a swirl into the combustion section.
