Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to precisely align the relative position of the distal end part (ground electrode) of the body fitting with respect to the combustion chamber, as well as to achieve a good seal, during attachment of a spark plug to a combustion device. The gasket (18) is made of metal of solid ring shape, and is furnished between a male thread part (15) and seat part (16) on the outer circumference of the body fitting (3) of the spark plug (1). The production method for the gasket (18) includes a punching step in which a punching process is carried out on a metal material (MM) of flat plate shape to obtain a ring member (RC) to serve as the gasket (18), and an annealing step for carrying out annealing of the ring member (RC), reducing the hardness of the ring member (RC) to a level below that to the metal material (MM), to obtain the gasket (18).
