Abstract:
A gated camera 100 divides a field-of-view into a plurality of slices in the depth direction, and generates a plurality of slice images corresponding to the plurality of slices. An illumination device 110 projects illumination light L1. A camera controller 130 controls the emission timing of the illumination device 110 and the exposure timing of an image sensor 120 so that slice images are generated from near slices to far slices. A computation processing device 140 determines whether a road surface is captured in each of the sequentially generated slice images. For a row where it was determined that the road surface was captured in a given slice, processing is streamlined when sensing is carried out for a slice which is farther than the given slice.
