A gateway and distributed system for efficiently connecting a network which periodically hold communication to a network which hold communication in an event-driven way. A gateway for connecting different networks together receives a periodical message, sends, when a change of the received periodical message is detected, the periodical message as an event message, receives an event message, and sends periodically messages.
