Abstract:
A gear-material holding device 1 has: a machine-tool connection member 2 that is connected to a machine tool y; a holding member 3 that has a hollow cylindrical portion 5 to be brought into contact with the side wall of a circular hole x1 in a gear material x; and a pull rod 4 that is inserted into the hollow cylindrical portion 5 of the holding member 3. The hollow cylindrical portion 5 of the holding member 3 has, at an end thereof, a slit section that is formed by slitting the hollow cylindrical portion 5 with a plurality of cuts 6 extending along the length direction. A tapered section of which the outer diameter increases toward the distal end is formed at an end of the pull rod 4. The holding member 3 is detachably attached to the machine-tool connection member y. The pull rod 4 can be moved back and forth in the length direction with respect to the holding member 3. The tapered section of the pull rod 4 enters the slit section of the holding member 3, thereby expanding the slit section of the holding member 3 and making the slit section abut against the side wall of the circular hole x1 in the gear material x.
