Abstract:
This gear pump, and gear motor, is provided with a drive gear, a driven gear provided meshing with the drive gear, and a cover member opposing a lateral face of the drive gear and a lateral face of the driven gear. Between the drive gear and the driven gear, a confinement area is formed for confining the working fluid. A drive shaft is connected to the lateral face of the drive gear. A driven shaft is connected to one of the lateral faces of the driven gear. The cover member includes a first accommodation space for accommodating the drive shaft, a second accommodation space for accommodating the driven shaft, and a flow path for guiding the working fluid confined within the confinement area to at least one of the first and second accommodation spaces.
