Abstract:
A gear shot peening method for hardening a gear without forming any projection on a tooth tip portion of the gear and a gear without any projection obtained through the method. The method comprises the steps of preliminarily shot peening only the tooth tip portion of a gear by using an air nozzle to harden the gear tooth tip portion, and thereafter shot peening a tooth root portion of the gear from a direction substantially perpendicular to the root of the gear by using the air nozzle to thereby harden the whole of the gear.
