Abstract:
A novel gene that controls the flowering habit/cleistogamy in barley can be identified successfully and the mechanism of developing the flowering habit/cleistogamy in barley can be elucidated successfully by a positional cloning technique. It is found that the determination of flowering habit/cleistogamy in a plant and the impartment of a cleistogamy trait to a plant can be achieved specifically and with high efficiency using the identified gene.
