Abstract:
The present invention is a gene set forth in one of the belowmentioned (a) to (c), wherein by means of a combination of genes coding for enoyl-CoA hydratase, it is possible to impart to a microorganism or a culture of the microorganism the ability to convert 3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA to 4-hydroxybutyryl CoA, or 4-hydroxybutyryl-CoA to 3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA. (a) A gene having the base sequence in sequence number 1. (b) A gene having a base sequence that results from one or more bases being deleted, substituted, or inserted with respect to the base sequence of sequence number 1, and that is at last 90% identical to the base sequence of sequence number 1. (c) A gene that hybridizes under stringent conditions with a gene having a base sequence complementary to a gene having the base sequence set forth in sequence number 1.
