CLAIMS

1. A method for generating and transmitting certain financial value information in a system, comprising: receiving (110), to a central unit (310, 410, 510), a first identification data from a first user (523) via a data communication link from a first userterminal (320, 420, 520), wherein the first identification data comprises a first identity; receiving (120), to the central unit, a second identification data from a second user (533) via a data communication link from a second user terminal (330, 430, 530), wherein the second identification data comprises a second identity; collecting (130) financial data using the first identification data, wherein the financial data comprises individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data associated with the first user; generating (140) value information from the financial data; storing (150) the value information in association with the first identity. transmitting (160) the value information and the first identity to the second user terminal via a data communication link.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising: removing, at the central unit, the association between the first identity and the individual financial data.

3. The method according to any preceding claim, further comprising: transmitting, to the first user terminal, identification data from the second user via a data communication link from the central unit.

4. The method according to any preceding claim, wherein the value information comprise: a first value which is generated using a first algorithm on the collected financial data.

5. The method according to any preceding claim, wherein the value information comprise: a first value which is generated using a first algorithm on the collected financial data; and a second value which is generated using a second algorithm on the collected financial data.

6 The method according to claim 5, wherein weights on the financial data in the first algorithm and/or second algorithm are dynamic.

7. The method according to claim 5 or 6, wherein the first value is stored in a first certificate and the second value is stored in a second certificate.

The method according to any preceding claim, wherein collecting the financial data comprise: providing, via a data communication link, the identification data to a financial data unit; requesting, via a data communication link, financial data from the financial data unit; receiving, via a data communication link, financial data from the financial data unit.

9. The method according to any preceding claim, wherein the financial data comprise account information, transaction information, savings information, salary information and spending information.

10. A method for generating and transmitting certain financial value information in a system, comprising: receiving (210), to a central unit (310, 410, 510), first identification data from a first user (523) via a data communication link from a first userterminal (320, 420, 520), wherein the first identification data comprises a first identity; receiving (220), to the central unit, second identification data from a second user (533) via a data communication link from a second user terminal (330, 430, 530), wherein the second identification data comprises a second identity; collecting (230) financial data using the first identification data, wherein collecting the financial data comprise providing, via a data communication link, the identification data to a financial data unit; requesting, via a data communication link, the financial data from the financial data unit; receiving, via a data communication link, the financial data from the financial data unit, and wherein the financial data comprises individual financial data associated with the first user, reference financial data associated with the first user, account information, transaction information, savings information, salary information and spending information; generating (240) value information from the financial data, the value information comprising a first value which is generated using a first algorithm on the collected financial data and a second value which is generated using a second algorithm on the collected financial data; storing (250) the first value in a first certificate and storing the second value in a second certificate; storing (260) the value information in association with the first identity; removing (270), at the central unit, the association between the first identity and the individual financial data; transmitting (280), to the first user terminal, identification data from the second user via a data communication link from the central unit; and transmitting (290) the value information and the first identity to the second user terminal via a data communication link.

11. A system for generating and transmitting certain financial value information, comprising: a first user terminal (320, 420, 520) arranged to transmit a first identification data from a first user (523) via a data communication link, wherein the first identification data comprises a first identity; a second user terminal (330, 430, 530) arranged to transmit a second identification data from a second user (533) via a data communication link, wherein the second identification data comprises a second identity; a central unit (310, 410, 510) arranged to receive the first identification data from the first user and the second identification data from the second user, to collect financial data using the first identification data, wherein the financial data comprise individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data, to generate value information from the financial data, to store the value information in association with the first identity, and to transmit the value information and the associated first identity to the second user terminal via a data communication link.

The system according to claim 10, further comprising: a financial data unit (440, 540) arranged to receive, via a data communication link, the identification data and a request for financial data from the central unit, and to transmit, via a data communication link, financial data to the central unit.

A secure system for generating and transmitting certain financial value information between identified users, comprising: a first user terminal (320, 420, 520) comprising input means and display means, wherein the first user terminal is arranged to transmit a first identification data from a first user (523) via a first data communication link (551), wherein the first identification data comprises a first identity; a second user terminal (330, 430, 530) comprising input means and display means, wherein the second user terminal is arranged to transmit a second identification data from a second user (533) via a second data communication link (552), wherein the second identification data comprises a second identity; a central unit (310, 410, 510) arranged to receive the first identification data from the first user via the first data communication link, to receive the second identification data from the second user via the second data communication link, to request financial data using the first identification data from a financial data unit (440, 540) via a third data communication link (553), and to receive the financial data, wherein the financial data comprise individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data, to generate value information from the financial data, to store the value information in association with the first identity, and to transmit the value information and the associated first identity to the second user terminal via the second data communication link 552; the financial data unit (440, 540) arranged to receive, via the third data communication link, the identification data and a request for financial data from the central unit, and to transmit, via the third data communication link, financial data to the central unit; wherein the second user terminal is further arranged to receive the value information and the associated first identity, and to display the value information and the associated first identity on the display means of the second terminal; and wherein the first user is a buyer and the second user is a seller.

Description:
GENERATING AND TRANSMITTING CERTAIN FINANCIAL INFORMATION AND ASSOCIATED USES

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention generally relates to the field of secure information and more particularly to a method, and a system for use in generating and transmitting certain financial information and associated uses.

BACKGROUND ART

In all societies trade is an occurring aspect. One individual trading one object for another, sometimes with a known person, sometimes with an unknown person. Historically, when trading an object for another, knowledge of the objects and inspection thereof used to be an important part of the trading of the object. In modern societies monetary value have become the usual object to trade for another object when buying or selling. However, there is still a need for mutual trust and security for both the seller and the buyer of an object so that a planned trade can occur in a safe manner.

Generally, one way is for a party to send, or otherwise provide, a printout from an account, thus proving an ability to perform a planned financial operation.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Providing financial information is important to improve the security and safety for

participating parties when preparing and/or performing a trade or other financial operations. By knowing the financial information of a party, that party's ability to provide payment during a financial operation can be predicted.

However, there are a number of drawbacks to this. The providing party may not want to share personal data, such as account numbers etc. with a receiver. A receiver which sometimes is previously unknown to the providing party. Furthermore, the information provided may manipulated before reaching the receiver. Thus, the inventor of the present invention has identified a need for improvements in providing a system and a method for generating and transmitting financial value information between participating parties and associated uses that is designed to overcome or at least mitigate the problems stated above, and which provides a method with an improved functionality in a more secure construction that provides reliability benefits.

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for providing for generating and transmitting certain financial value information which overcomes the problems stated above.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a method with advantages relating to reliability, security, extended use of functions, flexibility and/or scalability.

Aspects of the present invention are defined in to the independent claims. Preferred embodiments are set forth in the dependent claims.

The invention is based in an insight that while sharing financial information, such as account statements, can ensure that a deal or similar may be viable, such financial information is sensitive and may be used maliciously by a receiver. However, by using a system in which financial information is used to generate a value and in which identities of all participants are managed within the system, an arrangement which is more mutually secure for participating parties while providing additional functional benefits may be achieved.

In the example of sharing account information, manipulation may for an example be performed by changing one or more numbers on a digital or physical printout. By this, the balance may be changed, old information may be presented as present information, the owner of the account may be changed etc.

Further, since the financial information is used to generate a value on the financial strength of a user and that the value is communicated, there is no risk for sensitive information to reach a malicious receiver. In contrast, known technology may depend on sharing account numbers and personal information. Therefore, the known technology involves a risk of sensitive information reaching a non-secure receiver and due to this, the sensitive information may be used fraudulently. Further, since the participating parties are mutually identified, a safer solution is reached. By this not only a solution which actively reduces malicious intent may be achieved, but also a solution in which any ability at counterfeiting is reduced.

According to one aspect of the invention, a method for use in a system for generating and transmitting certain financial value information is provided. The method comprises receiving a first and a second identification data, collecting financial data, and generating, storing and transmitting value information. The first identification data is received to a central unit from a first user at a first user terminal via a data communication link. The first identification data from the first user comprises a first identity. The second identification data is received to a central unit from a second user at a second user terminal via a data communication link. The second identification data from the second user comprises a second identity.

The first identification data from the first user is used to collect financial data. The financial data comprises individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data. The financial data is used to generate value information. The value information is stored in association with the first identity. The value information and the first identity is transmitted to the second user terminal via a data communication link.

By storing the financial value, identity of the first user from which the financial value is generated, the identity of the receiving second user and maintaining a system in which the users may interact, a safe and certain solution may be reached. By keeping the values inside a specified system ensures that neither the first user nor the second user may tamper with the results, participating parties may be certain of the authenticity. By communicating information relating to the first user, the second user may be certain in the viability of a deal or similar may be viable. By communicating a financial value instead of complete financial information, the first user may be certain that no sensitive information in shared.

For example, the first user may be a buyer of an object and the second user a seller of the object. The seller may use a method or system described herein to receive trusted value information indicating the buyer's financial credibility and thereby be certain that the trade is viable. In one embodiment the first user terminal and /or the second user terminal may comprise an interface having a touchscreen.

The term may also relate to a unit specified for the method described herein used in the context of a store.

The data communication link may for an example utilize one or a plurality of different types of wired links or wireless links, such as for example xDSL, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G TCP/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth, WiMax, WLL, PSTN, optical fibre or a combination thereof. In one embodiment, the data communication link between the first user terminal and the central unit may for an example utilize one or a plurality of different types of wired links or wireless links, such as for example xDSL, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G TCP/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth, WiMax, WLL, PSTN, optical fibre or a combination thereof.

In one embodiment, the data communication link between the second user terminal and the central unit may for an example utilize one or a plurality of different types of wired links or wireless links, such as for example xDSL, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G TCP/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth, WiMax, WLL, PSTN, optical fibre or a combination thereof.

The identification providing identification data may for an example utilize one or a plurality of different types, such as for an example a software identification, an electronic identification, a physical identification or a combination thereof.

In one embodiment, the identification data may be secured and/or authenticated by use of a software identification, an electronic identification, a physical identification or a combination thereof.

In one embodiment, the identification data may be received from an external server providing at least one authenticated identification that may be received over a secure data

communication link.

The term "secure" in this context means that the data is protected from unwanted actions of unauthorized users.

A method according to the present invention overcomes the problems stated previously. Suitable applications for a method according to the present invention may be a situation where an improved safety between parties participating in a trade, such as a seller and a buyer is requested.

By this, a method and system for generating and transmitting financial value information may be established.

In one embodiment, the central unit may remove the association between the first identity and the financial data.

In one embodiment, the central unit may transmit the second identification data to the first user terminal via a data communication link from the central unit. By this, the second user is identified to the first user. For example a buyer may be identifier to a seller.

In one embodiment, the value information may comprise a first value. The first value which may be generated using a first algorithm on the collected financial data.

In one embodiment, the value information may comprise a first value and a second value. The first value which may be generated using a first algorithm on the collected financial data. The second value which may be generated using a second algorithm on the collected financial data.

In one embodiment, weights on the financial data in the first algorithm and/or second algorithm may be dynamic.

In one embodiment, the first value may be stored in a first certificate and the second value may be stored in a second certificate.

In one embodiment, a certificate may be associated with a unique identifier in a database. The identifier may as a non-limiting example be an identification number, a provided mail address, and/or similar. The identifier may originate from the identification data provided by a user, which in turn may comprise the users official identification, social security number or similar.

In one embodiment, in order to change information associated with an identifier, an identity and/or identification data, the central unit may request identification data and only performing the change if the provided identification data match the identification data stored in association with the information. By restricting changes to the actual identity, a more secure change management may be achieved.

In one embodiment, the method for generating and transmitting certain financial value information in a system may comprise receiving a first identification data, receiving a second identification data, collecting financial data, generating value information, storing the value information, transmitting value information and identities. The central unit may receive the first identification data from a first user via a data communication link from a first user terminal, wherein the first identification data comprises a first identity. The central unit may receive the second identification data from a second user via a data communication link from a second user terminal, wherein the second identification data comprises a second identity. The financial data may be collected using the first identification data. Collecting the financial data may comprise providing identification data, requesting financial data and receiving financial data. Providing the identification data to a financial data unit may be via a data communication link. Requesting the financial data from the financial data unit may be via a data communication link. Receiving the financial data from the financial data unit may be via a data communication link. The financial data may comprise individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data associated with the first user, account information, transaction information, savings information, salary information and spending information.

In one embodiment, the reference financial information may depend on a reference according to country, population group, company or similar. Comparisons may be performed within the same or different references. The value information may be generated from the financial data. The value information may comprising a first value which is generated using a first algorithm on the collected financial data and a second value which is generated using a second algorithm on the collected financial data. The first value may be stored in a first certificate and the second value may be stored in a second certificate. The value information may be stored in association with the first identity. The central unit may remove the association between the first identity and the individual financial data. The first user terminal may transmit identification data from the second user via a data communication link from the central unit. The value information and the first identity may be transmitted to the second user terminal via a data communication link.

In a further aspect, the invention relates to a system for generating and transmitting certain financial value information and such. The system comprises a first user terminal, a second user terminal and a central unit. The first user terminal is arranged to transmit a first identification data from a first user via a data communication link. The first identification data comprises a first identity. The second user terminal is arranged to transmit a second identification data from a second user via a data communication link. The second identification data comprises a second identity. The central unit is arranged to receive the first identification data, to receive the second identification data, to collect financial data, to generate and store value

information, and to transmit the value information. The financial data is collected using the identification data, wherein the financial data comprise individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data. The value information is generated from the financial data. The value information is stored in association with the first identity. The value information and the associated first identity is transmitted to the second user terminal via a data communication link.

In one embodiment, the system may further comprise a financial data unit. The financial data unit may be arranged to receive a request for financial data from the central unit via a data communication link. The request may include or be preceded by the central unit providing the identification data to the financial data unit over a data communication link. The financial data unit may transmit financial data to the central unit via a data communication link. In one embodiment, the second user terminal may be arranged to present the financial value information to the second user on an interface. In one embodiment, the second user terminal may be arranged to present the financial value information to the second user on an interface together with a marker, a watermark or similar to ensure the authentic use of the system for providing accurate financial information. The mark, watermark or similar may have an animated component.

In one embodiment, the second user terminal may be arranged to present the financial value information to the second user on an interface together with an animated marker, a watermark or similar to ensure the authentic use of the system for providing accurate financial information. The animated mark, watermark or similar further improves the safety by discourage screen dumps or other ways to copy the interface.

In one embodiment, the data communication link may be connectable to a communications network.

In one embodiment, the first user terminal may have a communication port for bi-directional data exchange. The communication port may be connectable to a communications network, e.g. via a data interface. The communications network may be the world wide internet, also known as the Internet. The communications network may also comprise a public switched telephone network.

In one embodiment, the central unit may be connected to the communications network. The central unit may comprise a database, user input/output interfaces and data processing hardware, and a communications port. The central unit computer may be located on a location, which is geographically separate from the first user terminal location and/or the second user terminal location. The central unit location may be in a first city, such as the Swedish capital Stockholm, and the first user terminal location and/or the second user terminal location may be in another city, such as Goteborg, Sweden or Malmo, Sweden.

Alternatively, the central unit location may be in a first part of a town and the first user terminal location and/or second user terminal location may be in another part of the same town. The user terminal location may also be referred to as supplier part, or supplier part location.

In one embodiment, a central unit comprises a control computer having data processing hardware and software for surveying a plurality of user terminals at one or more user terminal locations. The user terminals may for example be mobile phones, personal computers, in store terminals, cash machines, or similar, and/or a combination thereof. The central unit may comprise a database, user input/output interfaces and data processing hardware, and a communications port. The central unit location may be separated from the user terminals location by a geographic distance. By means of communications port the central unit can be coupled to communicate with user terminals via a port. The user terminals may deliver data being partly processed so as to allow further data processing and/or analysis to be performed at the central unit location by the central unit.

In one embodiment, the user terminal is a portable apparatus which may be connected to the communications network from time to time.

In one embodiment, the central unit may substantially continuously receive a signal from a user terminal so as to enable continuous or substantially continuous monitoring of the user terminal condition. The user terminal according to this embodiment may also substantially continuously be capable of communicating with the central unit at the central unit location. Hence, the user terminal according to this embodiment may substantially always be available on-line for communication with the central unit via the communications network.

In one embodiment, a user terminal is connected to the communications network

substantially continuously. Hence, the user terminal according to this embodiment may substantially always be "on line" available for communication with the central unit.

In one embodiment, a user terminal comprises a user input interface, whereby a user may interact with the user terminal. According to an embodiment the user input interface comprises a set of input buttons. An embodiment of the user terminal comprises a user output interface. The user output interface may comprise a display unit. The user terminal may comprise a data processing means, when it runs a basic program function provided in a basic program code, the data processing means provides for user interaction by means of the user input interface and the display unit. The set of buttons may be limited to a few buttons, such as for example two, three or five buttons, but more buttons may be envisioned, such as a complete QWERTY-set. A central button may be used for an ENTER or SELECT function, whereas other, more peripheral buttons may be used for moving a cursor on the display. In this manner it is to be understood that symbols and text may be entered into the user terminal via the user interface. The display unit may, for example, display a number of symbols, such as the letters of alphabet, while the cursor is movable on the display in response to user input so as to allow the user to input information. The user terminal may be arranged for having buttons integrated into the display unit, for an example in a touch enabled screen.

In one embodiment, a computer program or similar software for controlling the function of the user terminal may be downloaded from the central unit. This means that the program-to- be-downloaded is transmitted to via a data communication link, which may be over the communications network. This can be done by modulating a carrier wave to carry the program via a data communication link, which may be over the communications network. Accordingly the downloaded program may be loaded into a digital memory. Hence, a data processing program, a system communication program and or an analysis function program may be received via a communications port on the user terminal, so as to load it into a memory on the user terminal. Similarly, a data processing program, a system communication program and or an analysis function program may be received via communications port, so as to load it into a program memory location in a computer, a user terminal, or in a database.

In one embodiment, a computer program product, such as a program code means and/or program code means loadable into a digital memory of an apparatus, such as a user terminal and/or a central unit. The computer program product comprising software code portions for performing signal processing methods and/or analysis functions when said product is run on a user terminal and/or a central unit. The term "run on a data processing unit" means that the computer program plus the user terminal and/or central unit carries out a method of the kind described in this document.

In one aspect of the invention, a computer program product, such as a program code means and/or program code means loadable into a digital memory of an apparatus, such as a user terminal and/or a central unit. The computer program product comprising software code portions for performing signal processing methods and/or analysis functions when said product is run on a user terminal and/or a central unit. In one aspect of the invention, a method for use in a secure system for generating and transmitting certain financial value information between identified parties is provided. The method comprises receiving a first identification data, receiving a second identification data, collecting financial data, and generating, storing and transmitting value information. The first user terminal is arranged to, on request from a first user via an input means on the first user terminal, transmit the first identification data from the first user terminal via a first data communication link. The first identification data is received to a central unit from the first user at the first user terminal via the first data communication link. The first identification data from the first user comprises a first identity. On request from a second user via an input means on the second user terminal the second identification data is transmitted from a second user via a second data communication link. The second identification data is received to the central unit from the second user at the second user terminal via the second data communication link. The second identification data from the second user comprises a second identity.

The first identification data from the first user is used by the central unit to request and collect financial data from a financial data unit. The financial data comprises individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data.

The financial data is used by the central unit to generate value information. The value information is stored in the central unit in association with the first identity. The value information and the first identity is transmitted to the second user terminal via a second data communication link. The value information and the first identity is displayed on a display means of the second user terminal.

By storing the financial value, identity of the first user from which the financial value is generated, the identity of the receiving second user and maintaining a system in which the users may interact, a safe and certain solution may be reached. By keeping the values inside a specified system ensures that neither the first user nor the second user may tamper with the results, participating parties may be certain of the authenticity. By communicating information relating to the first user, the second user may be certain in the viability of a deal or similar may be viable. By communicating a financial value instead of complete financial information, the first user may be certain that no sensitive information in shared. In one embodiment, the second identity may be transmitted to the first user terminal via the first data communication link. The second identity may be displayed on a display means of the second user terminal. By this, the first user may be certain of the identity of the second user. Thereby certain of who have received the financial value.

In one aspect of the invention, a secure system for generating and transmitting certain financial value information between identified users is provided. The system comprise a first user terminal, a second user terminal, a central unit and a financial data unit.

The first user terminal comprises input means and display means. The first user terminal is a arranged to transmit a first identification data from a first user via a first data communication link. The first identification data comprises a first identity. The second user terminal comprises input means and display means. The second user terminal is arranged to transmit a second identification data from a second user via a second data communication link. The second identification data comprises a second identity.

The central unit is arranged to receive the first identification data from the first user via the first data communication link, to receive the second identification data from the second user via the second data communication link, to request financial data using the first identification data from a financial data unit via a third data communication link, and to receive the financial data. The financial data comprise individual financial data associated with the first user and reference financial data. The central unit is further arranged to generate value information from the financial data, to store the value information in association with the first identity, and to transmit the value information and the associated first identity to the second user terminal via the second data communication link.

The financial data unit is arranged to receive, via a third data communication link, the identification data and a request forfinancial data from the central unit, and to transmit, via the third data communication link, financial data to the central unit.

The second user terminal is further arranged to receive the value information and the associated first identity, and to display the value information and the associated first identity on the display means of the second terminal.

The first user is a buyer and the second user is a seller. At least by this, a seller can be certain of the financial capability of the buyer in a mutually secure system.

The system may be adapted to carry out any method or combination of methods described in disclosed embodiments.

The simplified illustration is intended to convey understanding of the general idea of storing different program functions in the central unit 310, 410, 510, and it is not necessarily a correct technical teaching of the way in which a program would be stored in a real central unit 310, 410, 510. A memory segment within the central unit 310, 410, 510 stores program code for controlling the central unit 310, 410, 510 to perform operations described herein. Although the simplified illustration of Figure 1 and 2 shows pseudo code, it is to be understood that the program code may be constituted by machine code, or any level program code that can be executed or interpreted by the central unit 310, 410, 510, the first user terminal 320, 420, 520 and/or the second user terminal 330, 430, 530.
