Abstract:
Disclosed is a geomagnetism sensing device that can accurately compute angular velocity and the like at each point in time even while complicated movements are being performed, and that has a three-axis sensor that detects geomagnetism. An x-axis sensor, y-axis sensor, and z-axis sensor that detect a geomagnetic vector are provided, and the direction of the geomagnetic vector is determined in spherical coordinates (Bb) from the detection output of each sensor. A reference axis (z0) is chosen in the spherical coordinates (Bb), an imaginary central point (Of) is determined on the reference axis (z0) in response to two detected coordinate data points (Sa, Sc), a normal line (Vg) to a plane that includes vectors (Va, Vc) that extend from the imaginary central point (Of) to each data point (Sa, Sb) is determined from the cross product of the vectors (Va, Vc), the axis that is parallel to the normal line (Vg) and that passes through the origin (Og) is considered the calculated axis of rotation (Ia), and motion centered around this calculated axis of rotation (Ia) is identified.
