Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a GMR element which has a large resistance change ratio (∆R/Rmin) and a wide linear output range; and a current sensor which uses the GMR element. [Solution] A GMR element (1) which comprises a fixed magnetic layer (6) wherein the magnetization is fixed, a free magnetic layer (8) wherein the magnetization is changed by an external magnetic field, and a spacer layer (7) that is positioned between the fixed magnetic layer (6) and the free magnetic layer (8), and which is characterized in that the free magnetic layer (8) is obtained by laminating a CoFe alloy (8a) and a CoFeB alloy (8b); and a current sensor which uses this GMR element (1).
